1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS review from North America
"Do not buy this model year for any reason"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Upon purchasing my 95 Blazer from a dealer, I replaced the brakes within two months and the EGR valve. I had constant engine trouble with misfiring plugs and vacuum problems, revving and hard starting. I replaced everything as it came up on the computer at the dealer for over a year until I was sick of it and found a local shop where the labor and parts were cheaper. Still no one could make the check engine light stay off. All went well for a while until one morning on the way to work when the oil gauge flipped over to empty and a world of pain opened up an swallowed me. Before I could diagnose the problem and react, all the oil from the engine had drained and the truck came to a grinding halt. It looked as if the engine had blown up the oil was sprayed everywhere under the hood. It cost me $5,000 and two weeks without my truck to have a new engine installed. Shortly thereafter the fuel pump went and shortly after that the feul lines and spider needed replacing. This truck has cost me more in the past year than it blue books for, but I got tied in to a loan and I could either fix it or take the hit. It was pretty even on either of the losing ends so I'm lumping it! I've easily sunk $7,500 in to this truck since buying it three years ago and I would never buy another Blazer. I just recently replaced the ball joints, two power mirrors, the master window switch and am currently pricing rear wiper motors because that went too. I'm just marking the calendar until this nightmare ends.
