1999 Oldsmobile Alero GLS review from North America
"Unreliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Within the first 15,000 miles--
vinyl on back doors replaced
fuel gage sensor replaced
water leaking in floorboard
brakes and rotors replaced
speedometer/tachometer surge, but
car does not move when going
from a stopped position
driver's side window gears replaced
15,000 to 60,000 miles--
vinyl on dash wrinkled and peeled
intake manifold leak
clamp on overflow tank replaced
ignition lock replaced
water in floorboard fixed again
speedometer/tachometer continue to
surge, but car does not move; no
one can find what is causing this
car does not start on first time;
must give it gas to get it to
start; no one can tell me why
alternator and battery replaced
when driving, indicator lights
(ABS and security system lights
in particular) flash on and off
console pops open its own
fan blower motor replaced.
General comments?
Overall, this car is fine when it does not have a mechanical problem.
The extended warranty was the best purchase I have ever made.
I would not recommended an Alero to anyone.
I have moved several times since owning my car and the service has been good.
