2004 Volkswagen Jetta GLS review from North America
"Well engineered, but poorly manufactured"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The dashboard on my jetta will keep fading out. The problem started at 8,000 miles and every so often will fade out and won't tell me what gear I am in or it will say that I am in Reverse when I am driving down the highway in Drive.
The transmission shifts very hard and downshifts even harder.
The brakes vibrate on the car with only 12,000 miles on it! The front rotors are warped and the rear brakes already need to be replaced after 12,000 miles also!
There are numerous rattles that have gotten worse over time that the dealership says that they "look" at it, but can't seem to find the problem and that it is fine... yea OK.
General comments?
I really like my Volkswagen, but there are just so many small problems with it that I had expected to have buying this type of car. If anyone knows whats wrong or if it is normal or if this is happening to their car; I have to press the brake pedal down at least half way until I get any sort of response from the brakes. I'm afraid that the pedal is getting to close to the flooring it. I have about 2 inches to flooring it and sometimes only even 1. Does anybody know what could be wrong? if so, my email is crewcore92@aol.com. thanks for your help.
