1989 SAAB 900 i - 16V review from Finland
"A great amount of safety, good looks and nice equipment in one package"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing too bad. The water pump got too old some time ago and had got to get changed.
Some rust can be found at lower areas of doors.
Car is working very well even though it's now new and has been driven a lot of kilometers.
Seats, dashboard and other inner parts of the car are in as good shape as in some newer and less-driven cars.
General comments?
Car is little bit heavy, and has got 133hp so it isn't too fast. Performance is, anyway, good enough for moving from place A to place B. 16 valves give more low-rpm torque to the car than "normal" 8 valves. So car can easily be driven at the speed of 60kph with 5th gear.
In my opinion, Saab 900 is as comfortable as car of its age can even be. It's equipped with power steering, CD-player, roof window, central locking with remote controller, alarm system and so on. That makes everyday use easier especially in big cities and other places where you have to turn the car much, and in other hand where the car's not secure without alarm system.
