1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass SL review from North America
"The Cutlass Supreme 2-door has been an exceptionally reliable car that I feel good driving"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
80,000 Miles - New Alternator
120,000 - A/C recharged
125,000 - New ball joints and tie rods
At various points, I have had to replace all three of the climate control knobs.
General comments?
This is a 2-door Cutlass Supreme. I would like to purchase a new car, but when this one keeps running so well, I suppose there is no reason to get rid of it. It's pretty comfortable, and if you push it, the 3.1 V6 provides ample power. It's quiet on the road too. My older Mercury Sable handled better then the Cutlass does, but I can't complain about getting over 70,000 miles from a set of tires!
I like the looks of the car, it's the 2-door model. Even though it's 8 years old, the paint is in excellent condition, and there is no sign of rust anywhere.
The interior of the car looks good too. The dash is in great shape, and the seats look new and are decently comfortable. I love GM tilt wheels, best in the business.
I scrapped all, but 4 of the defroster stripes on the back window loading stuff into the back, but I can't blame the car for that.
Overall, it's been exceptionally reliable and comfortable, if not the most fun car to drive.
