1997 Daihatsu Terios DX review from Australia and New Zealand
"practical multi purpose car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had an oil leak from the center differential and front propeller shaft boot at 105,000km. This took a week to repair due to unavailability of parts which was very inconvenient. It was also expensive to repair. At the same time the viscous coupling fan jammed up and required replacement this was very expensive so I bought a second hand fan unit and replaced it myself.
At 118,000km the rear propeller shaft boots is now starting to leak oil.
General comments?
The car handles quite well once you get used to it, however there is a little under steer and roll in the corners.
Engine lacks power when overtaking.
Excellent engine braking.
Rev's too high on the highways.
Engine is very reliable haven't had any problems yet.
Interior wise, the seats aren't as supportive as they should be and on long drives the legs can strain a lot.
