1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD review from North America

"The Best Affordable 2 Door Sport Import"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When inspected it needed two rear bearings, all new rotors, all new pads, and the driver side upper ball joint had some play to it, but was good enough to pass the inspection. I replaced it after with an aftermarket one. It only cost me $45.00. Other common things were new tires, oil filter, and an oil change.

2 weeks after, I cracked my driver side rear axel, because I had my foot on the brake and hit the gas trying to take off the line faster. It cost me $590.00, but my Step Dad paid for it. Thank God.

2 weeks later I popped the bearing in the turbo and rippled the fan with it, because I revved it too high in neutral. It went out because the bearing was bad anyway. It cost me $95.00 in parts, $150.00 at the machine shop to put the bearing in precise, and the rest in labor. In total it came to $300.00. Turbos have to be upgraded every 120,000 KM anyway, so I didn't mind.

After having it stuck in the garage for a month waiting for the right parts to come in, it was now the end of July. Here it is two months later and the Idle Control Sensor is off key and makes the engine rev too high in park and neutral and too low in drive and reverse. When the car shuts off I have to turn the key and pump the gas pedal a small bit just to start it, then switch to drive or reverse before it shuts off again and press the gas pedal to keep it idling high to drive. Other times it idles high in every gear and driving is a bit easier, but just loud.

This happened at 115,000 KM and cost me $270.00 for the part and labor.

I only paid $5500 (CAN) for it. This car has fast acceleration for a four cylinder and great top end speed. Getting to 200KM is easy on the highway. The AWD system makes turns easy plus the car is lowered 1 inch on the AWD Model making it only 4 inches off the ground. So be careful not to strike the ground on potholes, dips in the pavement, or entering/exiting a parking lot.

The interior is the second best looking to the infamous Supra and is very comfortable, but if your over 6'5'' you might have to slouch a little. Everything is powered and within easy reach in pushing a button to make it happen. The rear could only seat a 4 year old or younger and if your tall like me no one will every be able to sit behind you because the seat is all the way back to the rear seat so your legs can get some breathing room. As comfy as it is next to a La-Z-boy they are pretty much useless. You might as well remove them for more trunk space.

As for the body, well, what can I say. It is a Mitsubishi Eclipse with a different body kit, wing, rims, tail light saying TALON on the back, and instead of seeing Mitsubishi symbols on the front bumper and steering wheel, it's an Eagle. The interior is left the same, nothing is changed, they are matched the same. The headlights are just cool and looking at it from any angle is just awesome. As well as the bump in the hood for the cam gears making the car say ''I'm different in a special way.'' Because in the car world, different is cool.

Driving this car is just liking being in The Fast And The Furious. Then it only gets better as you modify it. It responses to any mod with ease because the engine was made to handle a turbo setup. The aftermarket parts and styling body kits are awesome and bountiful. Just so much to choose from for every category on the car.

I would recommended anyone looking for a 2 door sport or a great car to modify up the yin-yang to get this one, just as long as the mileage is under 120,000 KM.
