"Timeless lines"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Top end rebuild in 2000, (previous owner tried to pull a dual axle bay liner with it.) A/C compressor, headliner separated. Cold air has always leaked through the door pulls.
General comments?
We still drive this car everyday. It starts every time, It runs a little hot and smokes some in the summer so I took the thermostat out. drives awesome in the winter. The factory am Philco radio worked fine, but we put an Alpine in it.
It has the overdrive transmission and gets away from you on the highway and down hills (freewheels). Handles good and accelerates as good as a new car. 1983 was the first year of this bodystyle and we have some prototype quirks- like around the drivers side dash vent is woodgrain and all around the others is black? Digital clock still shows the date on startup, but the clock runs two minutes slow a month. the headliner separated so we just tore the cloth down and brushed off the crumbly stuff, looks like stock. This car has amazing bodylines, you can see a hint of 83 Thunderbird in it. Some had the rare v8 option, very few. Someone had their head on straight when they designed it. This bodystyle only lasted 3 years until the Taurus came and replaced it. oh well.. It looks nicer than new econobubblemobile. thanks.
