1999 Mercury Cougar V6 review from North America
"Very good car, it is very comfortable and I would buy from Mercury again"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Had the A/C recharged when I first got it. (86,000 miles)
General comments?
Ever since I got it back in April of 2004, this car has given me no problems at all. I bought it used with 86,000 miles and I have driven it like crazy. I don't see how all of you are having problems with your Cougars, but I think that some people treat it like a race car. This car only has a 2.5 liter V6 and it is not meant to be a race car. I bought it because of its looks and a good engine. The car I had before (1987 Colt Vista) was really good to me, but its life ran out at 162,000 miles. I searched for a new car. I have always been a fan of the W-body GM cars (Grand Prix, Lumina etc) but the models I like are 10+ years old and have higher mileage. But when I found this car and I test drove it, I felt like it was mine already. The V6 helps to pass cars if need be and when the A/C kicks on, the car does not fight for its life like a 4 cylinder would. Overall, this has been a great car to me.
