2002 Mazda Protege LX review from North America
"Great deal"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Lots of chips in paint on front bumper.
General comments?
This car has excellent throttle response. When you mash the pedal, this car picks up and goes! If anything, this car is much faster than it should be.
The stock tires were garbage. That's no surprise though.
The stock brakes tend to fade when they get hot. Again, no surprise. These can be upgraded for very little money. For your average driver though, the stock brakes will be more than good sufficient.
The paint on the front bumper seems to be either lacking clear-coat, or it's really thin paint. 32,000 miles, and my bumper looks terrible.
Protege's have great handling.
Various rattles here and there, but nothing major.
For the money, no other car can compete. This car looks great, performs great, and simply can't be beat.
