1997 Dodge Intrepid review from North America

O-rings leak. This is a recall issue and therefore replaced at no cost.

Terrible paint oxidation on roof and trunk.

This car has been a great joy to own. Never had any problems.

Its quick and agile. Quite exceptional for such a large car. The ride is smooth and comfortable while affording you with tons of passenger cabin. With the innovative forward cab design its easy to forget that you are actually driving a full sized sedan. I work at a new/used car luxury dealership and therefore get a chance to drive a wide variety of cars. It amazes me how solid my intrepid still drives compared to many of the later model supposedly luxury cars.

Despite the high mileage (131,000) the engine is still running at full power. I'm a very aggressive driver and this car never fails to entertain. A good kick on sudden acceleration leaving most around you stunned, crisp handling around bends (mind you this is a front wheel drive so ease into the corner first, then once the car settles into the corner push hard on gas pedal and watch the car sling right round the corner, giving you a wonderful feel of exhilaration).

This car is not only fun to drive, but also gets you the looks.

This car has just been so good to me rather than get a new car I decided to get it a new custom paint (can hardly wait to get it back from the paint shop) and keep it for a good number of years see if I can get to 200,000 miles.

For anyone considering one, a tip of advice, avoid the smaller engine (from many of the reviews I have researched they seem problematic) shop for the larger 3.5L engine and have a blast.
