1999 Citroen XM Turbo C.T. review from France

We only have this second hand XM for ten days, so there's nothing wrong with it for the moment.

It is a XM of the last phase : the assembling quality improved over the first phase. However, the style is less typical Citroën. In fact, the dashboard is quite common, compared to for exemple the CX.

After the first 2500 kilometers at the steering wheel, I can say it's a very comfortable car. It's quite powerful too, and very quiet.

Driving at high speeds (where possible, without causing accidents or being flashed by radars...) is a real pleasure. At 160 km/h, every thing is still under total control, and it's like driving at 100 km/h in an car with classic suspension.

The motor deserves the mention C.T. ("Constant Torque"), and deliveres it's power immediately and in a very constant manner.

The dynamic qualities are extraordinary. This car is like a flying carpet : asperities in the road are filtered in a perfect way.

The style of the car is uncommon, but very beautiful (thank you Bertone) and one can see in a whimp it really is a Citroën (unlike the C5, even if the recent restyling did a wonderful job).

It takes 10 liters of fuel for 100 kilometers at 140 km/h. Which is quite fair for a turbo.

Equipment is good : automatic climat control, sunroof, electronic stuff everywhere (startcode, low outside temperature warning, etc etc).
