2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport review from North America
"It's a Jeep thing"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced entire brake system at 30000. Replace front brakes again at 65000.
Interior fabrics are starting to wear in driver's seat and carpet on driver side.
The center console lid has a broken clasp.
Excessive rear noise became apparent around 50000 miles.
General comments?
This SUV is a perfect family car for a guy not willing to drive a mini-van.
It handles very well on streets, freeways, and off road.
I have discovered through the many brake problems I've had (all brakes replaced around 30000 miles and front replaced again at 65000 miles) that the issue is Jeep is using the Wrangler brake system in Cherokee vehicle. The added weight is causing the brake system to wear down faster. Replacing the brake pads is very easy, so staying on top of this (check them every 25000 miles) will relieve a lot of headaches.
In regards to the excessive read noise, it seems that this is a Jeep thing. Somewhat annoying, but generally, you don't notice it.
