1997 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab review from North America
"Fast"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The idle was always bad. It would "surge" annoyingly.
The windshield wiper controls were goofy and would cause random operation.
Radio display light went out.
The rear drum brakes lock up dangerously in wet weather, even with ABS control!
It ate tires quickly.
Clutch had to be rebuilt, but that's normal.
Heater core smelled awful, I think it was trying to fail.
General comments?
Overall, it was good. It always got us there and was reliable. It just had some annoying traits. When hitting a low spot in the road, the truck's ride was upset terribly. It did not handle very well at all and the ride was very stiff and loud. It was fast, but the engine was noisy and rough to go along with it, and it had been serviced perfectly. It looked cool in black. It also had one of the best air-conditioning systems I've ever seen.
