2000 Citroen Xsara 1.8 VTR review from UK and Ireland
"Very nice 'Warm' Coupe"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Brakes went a bit dodgy. Long pedal after new front disks and pads, and rear pads. I took it to my friendly, local garage (not a Citroen Dealership), where I always take my cars for servicing, MOT, etc.
Pedal was long (nothing the garage could think to do) until I fitted a new stereo, and took the battery off. When the battery was reconnected, the ABS pump must've reset itself and repressurised the system. (touch wood) it's been OK since...
Went through 1st set of (Pirelli P6000) tyres at the front in 18 months, then went through the cheap (£50/corner) tyres in under a year. Original Michellins at rear were OK when I swapped the lot fot Avon Zv3's.
The OE CD autochanger in the boot died.
That's about all that's gone worng...
General comments?
Was after a 306 XS (same engine/drive train/chassis) until I saw this, and it said "Buy me..."
Seats are comfy, but no so comfy you nearly fall asleep.
Handling is good, although not as sharp as the sporty 306's/Xsara VTS, which are lowered as std.
Enough poke to get anyone with a heavy right foot in trouble, but I'd still like a bit more (but then I'd probably a bit more poke from a Porsche, if I owned one!)
