General comments?
I bought the truck because I needed something badly. I paid 300 for it, prolly too much for how rusty it was. It was pretty basic truck, manual steering and brakes, 3 on a tree standard trans, and it was a short box. The only option was the explorer exterior package which was basically some stripes and a hood emblem. It had good power, and gas mileage wasn't too bad, which was important cauz at the time I had no job and often just put what ever I had in my pockets for change into the truck. It had worn out rear springs and sagged. A lot of rust and dents, some of which I put there :)
The 300 six cylinder ran like a top and always started no matter how cold. I loved the column shifter too. The pressure plate was warped which meant the thing shuddered like a sun of a gun taking off. The previous owner was a duffis and replaced just the clutch, but not the badly warped pressure plate. I replaced the whole works.
The truck was really easy to work on. I never had any trouble working on it. Which was a good thing kauz it required constant tinkering with something. It left me stranded on the side of the road quite a few times due to a bad ignition system. I replaced that. The other thing that gave me greif was the darn shifting linkage. I got a steering column out of an older 68 ford to replace mine because it had busted. The linkage always needed to be tinkered with. I mearly wired the rods coming off the trans to the steering column thingees. I am sure that is why it kept on having to be tinkered with.
All in all it was okay I guess. I liked the fuel economy and the power was pretty decent. It was good in the snow for only a 2wd. I would buy another one if the chance came up.
