1999 Jaguar Vanden Plas VDP review from North America

Here we go the small stuff you can live with first:

The door handle in the rear door is broken, the cup holder broke 2 times the trunk open light stays on Traction control failure ABS and stability control come most of the time

Then the housing for the thermostat split after that the steering rack went and a chip in the transmission went and it says transmission temp to high (dealer told me to live with it) the leather is poor quality and is cracking and looks like an old Dodge.

I am not done yet, the car has always used oil and antifreeze dealer says it's normal…. Not for me it isn’t.

Now the big Stuff with just over 60K miles on it, it has suffered a blown engine which was a direct result of the timing chain tensioner they are having trouble with. This car is one big piece of Junk which should not be allowed on the roads and I consider a Death trap because of the timing tensioner issue.

I would have been better with a horse and buggy, although I have made some new friends online with the same issues I have.

The fact that Jaguar knows about the engines blowing at 50 -70k miles is criminal because they get to steal another $13,000 out of their poor unsuspecting customer.

I must say that I did also make friends with the local tow company and I think I annoyed AAA for all the tows, now they come out of my pocket because I maxed out AAA.

On the plus side I have a $60,000 car that I am making payments on, and it was just towed from the dealer to my garage where it will stay until the lease company can come and take it away; at that time I have to pay for excess wear and tear however this should not be execs because it seems to be normal for a Jaguar.

I don’t want to tell you not to buy one, but look at what I just wrote and make the call yourself…. So unless you are brain dead, run my friends, send a message to Jaguar that we will not be treated like this.
