1997 Chevrolet Blazer LS review from North America
"I definitely like my Blazer, and would consider getting another."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Since I have owned this car I have replaced: the transmission @ 150k, the wiper motor and combination switch (does not solve wiper problem, which originates in the wiper circuit board), and the wiper circuit board.
The seats are pretty worn around the edges, and the cargo area carpet is pretty well worn. The wipers didn't work when I got it, which is a common GM problem where one circuit on the wiper circuit board burns out and causes the wipers not to work, or only to work in high speed, etc. I have had zero reliability problems with the engine or the rest of the drive train other than the transmission (a biggie, I know.)
General comments?
I have modified my blazer (cold air intake, Gibson Side Swept exhaust), and I really like the low end power that I get, even if this is not a particularly fast vehicle. It is reliable (my last 3 cars were Fords) and has never been completely undrivable (when I got the new transmission the old one had just lost reverse) and it starts the first time, every time. It's comfortable seating for 4 or 5, but still has plenty of cargo room when you need it.
