1999 Audi A4 Quattro review from North America
"Wonderful daily driver, that is one of the most attractive cars on the road"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Item's that failed:
-Tie-rod end
-Control Arm
-Fan Bearing.
Preventative maintenance performed:
-Timing Belt & tensioner
-Water pump & thermostat
-other belts (a/c & serpentine)
General comments?
It's really been reliable for me so far. I knew that the timing belt and tensioner had to be replaced at 60,000 miles, so I did them as soon as I bought the car, along with the waterpump and thermostat, because there were easily accessable while the front was apart (so I saved on labour).
I chipped the car, and after doing so, the performance is excellent. It's literally the perfect winter vehicle.
Awesome for long highway trips.
Seats are very comfortable, brakes are fantastic.
The stock suspension ride is a bit harsh with mileage on it, but with new good quality coil-overs, the ride feels unbelievably good.
