1989 Mitsubishi Starion esi-r review from North America
"A true SPORTS car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing so far.
Except when I hit a curb in a bad rain storm and bent the lower control arm and sway bar. My only complaint is that the control arms are really flimsy. They are a poor design. Honda's have beefier arms than the starion.
I make my living as Auto Technician so I maintenain me cars to the highest standards. I'm sure that's plays a factor in the performance of my cars, but doing regular maintnance has proved to be very effective in avoiding any complications. Waiting until something breaks is not the way to preserve your car, no matter what make/model it is.
General comments?
I have owned many staquest and I loved everyone of them. I only sold them because friends wanted them and I had other for myself.
If these cars are maintained they will last. Waiting for things to break only lead to more problems. My modo is "CHANGE IT NOW OR PAY DOUBLE LATER"
I can state, as a fact, that the Starion/Conquest, with a simply an exhaust upgrade, will beat any stock mustang out there.
They are very fast and with many mods available can be even faster. Make smart upgrades, and for a reasonable cost, you can have a very reliable, very fast "street-able" everyday car. That can only be said about a small group of cars out there.
If you're a true car enthusiast, as a star-quest owners, we can create a very unique, very competitive street machine without spending $30k on a new car that are one OF a million. Learning everything you can about these cars is all you have to do to keep these cars alive. Keep those turbos spooling. Drive your Starquest Proud. We are owners of a dieing breed.
