1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LS review from North America
"The Chevy Tahoe is a high-maintenance truck that is worth every penny"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I purchased the vehicle the rear condenser and hoses were replaced. Soon after I replaced the front cup holder, wiper motor, leaky transmission lines and the u-joints.
While on a trip to Georgia the starter had to be replaced and the computer malfunctioned. The CPU malfunction caused the anti-lock braking system to engage randomly while driving. Replaced computer, emissions sensor and self-installed starter cost: $1100 and three lost days of work.
After returning from vacation the truck was leaking anti-freeze. The intake manifold gasket, the coolant hose on the top of the engine and the water pump all had to be replaced.
I also have trouble unlocking the barn doors, though I've cleaned the contact points and lubricated the lock mechanism.
Currently the four wheel drive doesn't engage.
General comments?
The cloth interior has held up well and is in near mint condition.
For long distance driving this truck is bar-none. It is comfortable and a joy to drive! It has plenty of merging power and feels like driving a personal mobile home.
