2001 Dodge Ram Pickup 3500 review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Transmission replaced at 212000, transfer case rebuilt at 223000, and a water pump at 247,000. The person who owned this truck before used it only for pulling heavy loads and worked it very hard.
General comments?
Overall this has been a great truck so far. I have a 2003 truck with the cummin's diesel also. I actually bought the 2003 first and liked it so will I decided to buy this 2001 to drive back and fourth to work. Mileage is not as good as the 2003, but still isn't too bad at 16 to 17 miles to the gallon. I plan on keeping the 2001 till I get up to 400,000 miles or more. At 250,000 on it right now, and it still does not use any oil between oil changes. I change the oil every 5000 miles. My main use of the truck it to drive back and fourth to work and pull my horse trailer occasionally. So far I am very pleased with the truck and fully expect to get the 400000 miles I expect out of it. It is the firs dually I have ever owned and I like it very well.
