1994 Buick Skylark Grand Sport review from North America
"I love to drive my quick for Buick - Skylark.. Some smaller problems though I need advice on PLEASE!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Apparently an intake gasket or a whole new intake system was put in the car before I bought it at like 100,000 miles, can't complain about that really at 100k and it was not me that fixed it.
The car treated me absolutely great for my first year and a half of ownership. I had never broken down on me or left me stranded although the driver window won't go down and my air conditioning compressor doesn't work and sometimes makes a loud harsh noise.
General comments?
But like I said besides those small problems it has been good (Driver window, front right bushing needed replaced, air conditioning compressor, ABS brakes do not work and the light is on some kind of leak that gets rain/snow water into the passenger compartment under the dash somewhere... and not until recently did I have these problems right before inspection is due which is now: the power steering rack and pinion went out and I lost all my fluid, and the front left wheel bearing is making a whining noise that will definitely need to be replaced. But right now I am at a crossroad and could use some help about what to do about this car that I absolutely love. I don't know whether to dump this money into it or not? Does anyone know how much a front wheel bearing, a power steering rack and pinion, and an air conditioner compressor would be??? Because those are the things that I wish to have replaced for me to keep driving this car. But the thing that does make me nervous is that when I am going up a small hill at higher speeds the transmission starts to almost jump causing the rpm's to jump around a couple hundred revs and also causes a grinding noise at the same time. I have been told that this is the overdrive gear trying to engaged and disengage or that it could be a worn overdrive gear. Someone told me that there is a wire that can be cut to prevent this from happening. Does anyone know what to do about this? Or is my transmission going to inevitably go soon too after I dump all this money into inspection. WHAT SHOULD I DO? Please try to give me some good opinions, I could really use them because I want to get this work done possibly in the next week. Or should I just forget this car?
