1998 Dodge Durango review from North America
"Lemon City... fundamentally unsound..."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Car was delivered with a torn interior compartment ceiling. Replaced by the dealership.
At 12,000 miles the air conditioner failed.
At 16,000 miles brake fluid leaked behind the fire wall and into the drivers compartment (required all front space carpeting be replaced).
At 40,000 miles the front brakes required replacement (primarily highway driving).
At 42,000 miles the lower front ball joints required replacement (no off road driving to speak of). This failed the car for inspection.
General comments?
Would have guessed most problems related to the chassis were resolved during the Dakota manufacturing run. Guessed wrong.
Dodge has been uncooperative and consistent in their unwillingness to offer assistance.
No longer allow passengers in this vehicle - not sure what will fail next.
Will not purchase another Dodge Product.
