2001 Vauxhall Zafira Club review from UK and Ireland

"An excellent choice of car for a growing family, 100% recommended"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing as yet, even if it does go wrong, it's a Vauxhall and it will not cost the earth to repair.

We also have a Vauxhall Cavalier, which is although getting on a bit, it too is very reliable.

That's another reason why we got the Zafira, owing to Vauxhall building reliable dependable cars.

General comments?

We have wanted a Zafira, for some time now, since they first appered back in 1999.

Even though we have owned it for a short time, maybe I cannot give a true and accurate assumption of my ownership. But it all bodes well, everything regarding the Zafira is great, we cannot fault the car at all.

Vauxhall certainly produced a winner, and it is no wonder that the Zafira has won numerous awards, we are 100% happy with it.

The 1600cc engine is brilliant, it combines fuel economy, and performance a snail it's certainly not, you don't even have to 'rev the thing either.

The handling is brilliant, you kind of forget your driving a relatively large car, and you find yourself chucking it about on country lanes. But yet The suspension/steering has been so well thought out that you are almost compelled to push on.

Even so it does not come out in a sweat, you point it, and it goes, it is a very confident drive.

The interior is a master stroke, the 'flex 7' is excellent, so adaptable the interior feels huge, but yet no larger than an Astra estate. Although it would be fair to say it is more of a large 'six' seater car, than a seven. The centre middle row person would be slightly crushed, it could be done, but rather them than me.

We have found that Road and tyre noise are really hushed, at any speed, on any road surface, even above the legal motorway limit. Before we purchased I had read a lot of reviews whom regarded the Zafira as 'noisy' the review did apply more to the smaller engined Zafira, this claim I feel does not apply.

Our previous car/cars were down right horrible at most speeds, a conversation was hard work, a steady 65 mph was in order. But that does not apply, with the Zafira, I will have to take it easy, I still have a clean driving license. We will have no problem driving from County Durham, to the likes of Dorset/Cornwall when on our camping 'Hols.
