1990 Volkswagen Passat cl estate review from UK and Ireland
"Should have bought one years ago"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
First clutch was replaced at 140000 miles. Second clutch was replaced 330000 miles. And needs rear wheel bearings every year.
General comments?
When you consider the power to weight ratio of the car, it proves to be a very comfortable car and enough excitement when the kids are not on board.
In the four years I have owend this car I cannot fault it in any way apart from replacing the oil dampers with gas ones (handles amazing considering the ground clearance who needs a hot hatch).
After reading all the other reports on the car it seems America got the bum deal. Parts do not seem to differ in price from other manufacturers.
