1993 Geo Metro review from North America
"Best $50 I ever spent!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
New clutch, windshield, and tune up parts.
General comments?
I bought it for $50 from a friend. He had it since the car had 30k on it from the original owner who supposedly rolled the car over. There was heavy damage to the roof and the Bondo was coming off in chunks, but the engine and transmission were still in excellent shape. It burns about a liter of oil every 600 miles, but that is not bad for a car as old and abused as it is. The previous owner had not changed the brake pads, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, cap, or coil in over 70k miles. I replaced the clutch and tuned up the car for less than $250. A new windshield cost $140 installed.
It is a beater, but so fun. I yanked the AC out of it to cut weight and drag on the engine and it feels a lot zippier now.
Gets about 40 mpg. So nice to pull into a gas station and pay less than $15 to fill up.
