1991 Citroen AX GT review from UK and Ireland

What things have gone wrong with the car?
New head gasket.
Brake drums re-ground.
Radiator header tank holed.
Some electrical problems.
New rocker-cover gasket.
Brake cooling duct replaced.
Rust just in front of the front strut in the engine bay.
New cambelt.
New alternator.
Various other niggles.
Most, if not all the problems have arisen due to severe neglect by the previous owners (who only serviced the car twice in 8 years!)
Due to low mileage and careful previous owner, the engine's in top nick.
General comments?
What a great car, if the previous owners had not been so indifferent to the car's welfare it would have been immaculate. It's one of the most fun cars to drive you'll ever find, and for the price I paid, a bit of a bargain too.
My driving style caused the header tank to explode though, which means a new radiator....d'oh...
Easy car to work on too, engine is very willing, and with a bit of tuning, gets almost outrageous performance for a 1360cc. I've got 120mph out of mine - feels like it'll take off though.
Handles great, understeers, but predictably.
If you upgrade the brakes, wheels and lower it by 40mm, fit a new exhaust system, re-jet the carb and fit a filter kit, you've got a car that'll eat most other hot-hatches with ease.
And if you respray the body kit, it looks wicked too....
