1991 Ford Escort Encore review from UK and Ireland
"Pretty good so far"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing so far, but then I've only had it a few months. This car has only done a genuine 23500 miles from new. I know its history as my Dad had it from when it was 9 months old (he now has a Honda Jazz). All I've known go wrong has been a ball joint (at last MOT) and a bit of corrosion on the offside wheel arch. Apart from that, it's just the usual stuff like brake pads and tyres.
General comments?
This car is very comfortable, as it's a special edition model, the Encore, and has a similar spec. to the Escort Ghia.
It's not amazingly quick, as it's quite a heavy car for a 1.3 engine. Nice 5-speed box, though, and central locking, sunroof, tinted glass etc.
The car holds the road quite well as it's got 185/60/R14 tyres rather than the usual 155R13's. There is a bit of bodyroll when cornering, a set of stiffer gas shocks could probably address that though.
