1971 Datsun 510 SSS review from Australia and New Zealand
"My son and I own four Datsun P510s - we love them!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Needed repainting after 33 years.
Before repainting, rust removed from the LHR lower quarter panel.
Triple core radiator fitted to the original top and bottom tanks.
All mechanicals and electrics are still as originally assembled and working fine, but the L16SSS engine could use a new set of rings!
General comments?
I am restoring this car to its original body condition. The original running gear is still intact, but for future daily use, I have a 2.1 litre engine, a HR30 Skyline turbo 5 speed gearbox and an R180 4.1 ratio LS Diff, also ex Skyline.
Power is 180BHP @ 6400RPM at the flywheel. (Original engine 109HP @ 5800 RPM)
Brakes are 280mm vented discs (Front)
and 250mm solid discs (rear). Original brakes and suspension in storage.
Suspension is stiffened and adjusted to increase negative camber (front and rear)
