1996 Peugeot 405 glxi review from Norway
"Trusty, economical family-estate. Even with small engine"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Only IRRITATION problem I've had, rear brakes!
They where worn out when I bought the car. And the unlisted dealer changed them before the contract was signed.
After 6000km they where tottaly un-adjusted, and I discovered faulty instalations to be the problem. No guaranty, due to no listed Peugeot dealer.
I fixed the brakes, but didn't notice a "glassed" band. So it is worn out again.
My fault, so I can't blame anyone.
Winter in Trysil, (with -35dgC) made the central locking motors/solenoid to freeze, 2 solenoid to change...
At 145000km Left Front bearing wanted to rest, and a new where easy to buy.
Fuel-pump stopped at 155000km, due to corrosion in a connector.
General comments?
Economical, trusty, easy going.
I might want less windnoise, and a coffeecup holder. And more stow-away rooms, Cd's in the door pocket, and sunglasses on the dashboard.. Very tempting for burglars.
Hide-away panel for the stereo is a BIG plus!
The comfort of Peugeot 405 is un-questionable. So is the quality of the interior, and it's details.
The boot is rather enormous, but I would like to have stow-away rooms, to tidy up my car better.
