2002 Jaguar X-Type Sport review from UK and Ireland
"Poor driving and ownership experience"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Soon after receiving my new X-type 3.0 Sport it became apparent that it was extremely difficult to drive the car smoothly and at low revs the vehicle kangarooed. On engaging first gear the car lurches, and once in motion the drive-train whines. This makes for a very unpleasant driving experience which has ruined my ownership of the vehicle.
The vehicle has also suffered from amongst other things air-conditioning failure, several recalls, repeated central locking failure, acrid odour in the cabin, passenger seat airbag faults, corrosion of alloy wheels, boot release failure, and a notable ‘clunk’ following starting up.
I would urge prospective purchasers to test drive the car very carefully in order to judge for themselves.
