1982 Datsun 280Z review from North America

AC replaced under warranty no charge

no other problems.

Slight rust began appearing after 5 years.

Extremely reliable overall.

Just routine maintenance.

Broke one of the t tops in its pouch by dropping

a grocery bag on it (expensive mistake-own admitted stupidity!)

Not cheap to buy and insurance was as high as my Corvette at the time.

The Datsun should have held its value better.

Could have had more power and better handling, but it was very comfortable and fun to drive.

Unfair to nitpick as it had few low points.

Only my small child could fit in the back seat (2+2) but having a family you cannot have 2 cars with only 2 seats!

Purchased new with 2+2 option needed a family car so my then 6 year old could have a place to sit!

Few cars in its time period especially domestic ones were anywhere near as well built or reliable.

I bought it for its design and its features more so than performance.

I also owned a Corvette at the same time which spent more than its fair share of time in the shop, but I was reluctant to give up the performance.

Extremely attractive white 2+2 red leather/suede and the dark glass t tops which didn't leak like the vette!

Very nice features.

Civilized sports car.

Great mechanically nice with 5 speed.

Was the most reliable sports car at the time I feel I could have bought.
