1991 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 review from North America

Rear driver's side brake locked up when car was purchased - replaced rear brakes.

Driver's window (power) no longer goes down.

Driver seat adjuster broke about 1 year after car was purchased. 6 months later, the latches on the front of the seat broke, causing the seat to tip backward.

Front passenger defrost vent is warped.

Power locks stick, but still work. Just have to push lock/unlock repeatedly.

At 254,000 miles, the odometer and speedometer quit working.

Had to replace fuel pump, filter, 3 injectors, and line.

Transmission sensor went out about 6 months after buying the car.

When turning on the air conditioning, the car would idle higher and shake. Air finally went out last summer.

Ignition is what I like to call "manual" since last summer - when I start the car, I have to manually turn the key from "start" to "on."

Oil leak at about 245,000.

Even though there are many problems listed, I really enjoy my car. It has very close to 300,000 miles on it, and has never had any really expensive problems, except for the fuel line system. However, as with any car that is 13 years old, wear and tear will take its course. Things will eventually break down and need repairs. The car has great pickup, and gets very decent gas mileage. I put around 100 miles a day on the car for about 2 years, and only filled up twice/three times a week, depending on work schedules. Now that it is pushing the 300k mark, I am looking for a new car. I am very sad to be parting with this one, as it has been one of the best cars I have ever driven. It's very sporty and fun, and still looks almost perfect on the outside and interior. Great car and repairs were not that costly.
