1983 Renault Fuego 2 litre gtx review from Australia and New Zealand
"Extremely powerful cheap car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I bought the car with a blown head gasket and it wouldn't run because the cylinders were filling up with water I fixed this and later found that the water pump had gone and there fore the auto choke was not working and would not start once hot so I fixed this and it now runs fine.
I had some rust problems which were minor and were fixed easily.
Seats are a bit worn and won't fold down as the previous owner snapped the cable and then attempted to fix it with electrical connector blocks (which didnt work)
General comments?
These cars are great the back seats are a bit small, but extremely comfortable. the front seats are just as
comfortable and there is plenty of room the pedals are a little close and you often find yourself pressing two pedals at once other wise fine
they are extremely powerful with a double Webber carb and you often find yourself spinning the wheels.
The only improvement I could make on these cars is that they made it rear wheel drive as being front wheel drive prevents fast take off and would make better use of the 110 bhp.
