2005 Ford Territory TS review from Australia and New Zealand
"Well designed family car whose features outweigh its minor thirst for fuel"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
A large 'clonk' noise in transmission upon depressing accelerator rapidly to overtake a car (only had 400km on odometer). Never happenned since. Much smoother now.
General comments?
Excellent people mover. Optional rear seats great for kids and can be used by adults for shorter trips.
Spacious cabin.
Long trips are smooth, quiet and comfortable.
Initial fuel economy was horrendous, but soon got better. Fuel economy seems to get better after 2000km. We achieved 11.6L/100km (confirmed by trip meter and at the pump) on a long run. Managing to get mid 13L/100km around town. Seems to use less fuel if using premium. Fuel economy is not an issue if you drive without a Lead foot. I expect economy to get a bit better yet.
Smooth engine. Not as quick as an equivalent Falcon, but no problems overtaking on the Highway.
Surprisingly tight turning circle and easy to park. Just like driving a sedan. Side and rear visibility superior too many sedans (including Falcon).
Side curtain airbags, premium sound system, alloys etc are worth the money on the TS.
Not designed as a full on 4wd so should not be compared with other speed bump tacklers such as the Landcruiser and Patrol. We ordered the 2wd model.
Servicing every 15,000km. Plugs every 150,000km.
Centre glove box can carry 11 drink cans!!
Dash can get a bit glary on sunny days.
