1997 Ford Ranger XLT review from North America
"Great little truck that I give high marks to"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I am on my third battery.
I am also on my third thermostat.
General comments?
This is a very reliable vehicle. I have had no problems in the 7 years I have owned.
I would reconsider the camel interior color for "truck" type vehicles as the color seems to hold/show dirt. The interior is well thought out and everything is within reach. The seats are very comfortable. I have the long wheel base extended cab and the ride is very car like.
The one flaw may be in the 2.3L engine. While very reliable, it does not have a lot of horsepower to spare. Matched to the 5 speed manual it runs OK. I can always keep it in a power band.
I would recommend this truck as a first car for kids (dual airbags, anti-lock brakes) as well as a second car for a family.
