1999 Vauxhall Omega CD review from UK and Ireland
"Big and cheap"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Oil leaks that where costly to locate and repair They required a lot of labour.
New exhaust at 100,000miles (expensive). For MOT.
New front suspension arms 100,000miles. For MOT.
General servicing is expensive, but needed if the car will get to a high mileage. Not a very mechanic friendly machine.
General comments?
The Omega is a good family car and very cheap to buy secondhand.
Fuel economy is good 24mpg in town and 35mpg on long slow motorway drive.
Its underpowered with very neutral handling which makes it dull to drive (I hoped a 2.5litre and rear wheel drive might be a little more exciting).
It's a great car for going on holiday with the family, posibly while towing a caravan.
