2001 Skoda Octavia Comfort review from Netherlands
"Better an Audi for Skoda money, than reverse!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
After 100.000 km, a quite noisy shock absorber (rear left) needed a new distance ring.
Due to (overheated) service on LPG, the Exhaust cathalist burned after 120.000 km.
At 150.000 km, a very small leak appeared in an aluminum tube of the cooling system, wich was repaired on the roadside by turning in a little screw.
General comments?
With 205.000 kilometers in 3,5 years, I have practically lived in this car. It turned out to be very steady, comfortable and overall enjoyable to drive.
On LPG, it ran 12 km/l, which seems good to me with the 2000 cc engine.
At 205.000, it had the second set of tires and the second set of rear brake shoes. The rest was still original, and motor and transmission were as good as new. Compliments to the Czech mecanics!
The only complaint I have (or, in my case, my passengers have) is the backseat foot space. It's really too small for grown-ups on long-distance travel.
