1992 Ford Econoline E 350 ClubWagon review from North America

"Tough as Nails, Always starts and drives!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Needed New radiator at 125,000.

Needed Cap, rotor, wires and plugs at 150,000 ml and 200,000 ml.

Calipers on both front wheels are stuck at around 150,000.

Bad valve c0ver gasket at 100,000.

Blower motor went bad at 110,000.

Rear A/C never worked.

General comments?

I have owned about 10 Ford Econolines from years 1985 to this one being a 1995.This one is by far the best I've ever owned.

This was a 15 passenger van and I took the seats out to use it as a cargo van. It can fit more cargo then ANY other van I have ever seen.

For example, I am a carpet installer and I have to fit 12 ft long by umteen ft long rolls of carpet plus padding in my van. This van is capable of holding about 400 sq yrds of carpet plus 400 sq yrds of padding. PLUS 4 or 5 men, granted this well beyond its capability, but it can be done if you utilize the roof for more cargo space. This can be done with some ladder racks or some simple lashing straps.

When loaded over 15,000 lbs (including the GVW of 9,000) it becomes very difficult to drive. The truck tends to sway during high speed curves and even low speed turns.

At low speeds when loaded its fine.

Stopping is terrific and even though this model that I own doesn't have ABS as long as its not raining I have never had a problem. When loaded it is TERRIBLE! I have been in 3 minor accident while the truck was loaded and not being able to stop at all. The brakes will lock up on wet surfaces and you will slide uncontrolably. Even while the truck isn't loaded, during the rain or snow I can't stress enough at the precaution you should take with driving this truck.

Don't get the wrong idea, this truck is tougher then nails and has never left me stranded. I have beaten the crap out of it and it hasn't skipped a beat. During the time I worked doing carpet in new construction housing the truck would drive through the deepest mud I have ever attempted to go through without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. If it wasnt for work I would go off raodin with this beast! I call her the Battle Wagon, lol.
