1996 Ford Taurus review from North America
"Worthwhile if VERY cheap and you know what to expect."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Problems with interior lights when the car was purchased- fuse was disconnected.
Door ajar light stays on most of the time, goes off only randomly.
Power window motors have stopped working several times on three of the four doors.
Bad shifter interlock cylanoid.
Slow coolant leak beginning months after purchase- although monitored, fatally overheated the engine.
General comments?
I can only blame myself for purchasing a car which is now exhibiting the same costly problems as is expected of this model. I am only waiting on the transmission to start acting up...
The car is spacious and comfortable.
The sound system, A/C, heater, and cruise control all work fine.
The car does not have as much power as it used to, especially on hills- a sure sign of a slow, drawn-out death.
