2000 Ford Fiesta Zetec-S review from UK and Ireland
"Could have been good if not for the staggering list of 'common faults'"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Piston rings went at 34000 miles. Covered by Ford warranty, but only after many letters and legal threats. The car had a full Ford Service History.
Rust in door sills and along side-skirts. Again covered by warranty, but still hassle to get it sorted.
Steering wheel 'melted'. Not covered by warranty, but got 80% of the cost from Ford after complaining.
General comments?
The car handles well and is fun to drive.
However it is let down by serious lack of power. It just isn't quick enough and has to be absolutely killed to go anywhere. Nothing before 3500rpm, nothing after 5800rpm.
The interior really lets the car down. It's not comfortable and the driving position is awful. Everything feels cheaply made and is not different to a normal Fiesta.
