2001 Ford Falcon AU XL Supercab Ute Series 2 review from Australia and New Zealand
"Aussie Ute of the century!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Tappets got noisy at 85000 kms.
Small windscreen leak.
General comments?
This ute has been lowered on 18" mags and has pacemaker extractors.
Looks killer with the hard lockable tonneau cover.
Very comfortable ride with fantastic seats and driving position
I've driven VU-VZ Commodore utes and I found them awfully uncomfortable compared to this ute.
Very strong torque and power from the injected six-pack
A beautiful motor.
The 5-speed manual box shifts well, and the clutch is just great.
Brakes are also fantastic.
The interior is nice, ergonomic and very practical.
It's great on fuel considering the size and power of the motor. My previous car (1998 EL Falcon auto) was a lot thirstier.
I can easily get 600 highway kms to a tank.
The supercab gives ample room for work gear, bags etc.
The tray is huge and very practical
The cup holders on the tailgate when it's open is a nice touch.
This ute is a pleasure and fun to drive
It looks killer and is super reliable.
It's also seriously quick.
I am in love with this ute.
I'd only trade it in for a BA Falcon.
