1999 Ford Contour SE Sport review from North America
"Over all, the car has been good to me and at 25 mpg, was worth every penny spent"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Dash board warped at 30,000 miles, but Ford fixed for free.
A/C switch resistor failed at 38,500 miles, allowing the A/C to only work on high. $100.00 fix.
Check engine light has come on a few times, but I could never figure out what for.
Interior fades rather quickly. Within a couple of years only.
Pin stripping faded and cracked within 3 years.
Headlight lenses worn bad by the sun. Really cheap plastic, but easy to fix with 1200 grit sand paper, plastic polish and a high speed buffing wheel.
Rear left power window regulator broke at 40,000 miles. fixed myself for only $40.00.
General comments?
2.5 liter V-6 Duratec engine is very strong at 170 horse power.
Automatic transmission slow at down shifting, but when it engages, hold on!
Car handles as good as many high end sports cars. Not bad for a sedan.
The interior noise is kinda bad for a sedan, you hear the road through the tires way too much.
Poor headlight performance compared to other vehicles of the same class.
