1986 Toyota Landcruiser FJ60 (Wagon) review from North America
"Will last for ever. Built for 3rd world conditions"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Gas tank fixed on recall.
Radiator replaced, this is very typical, watch for it. Overheated engines are how these trucks frequently die.
Some small thing in Transfer case that let it pop out of 4 low. $400 mostly labor.
AC at 170000, 17 years, not bad.
Has the typical driver side lean an probably needs new springs.
General comments?
170K miles, runs great, uses no oil. Body is tight, but somewhat dented all around ;-). You will not wear this truck out if you know how to take care of it, but it might wear you out. This really is not a vehicle for normal street driving. You can do it, but it is really built for difficult conditions, not highway driving.
I have been hit several times and I assure you this truck is built like a tank. A car rear ended me and was very seriously messed up. I didn't even bother with the small bend in the bumper. The cops were amazed, they are the one's that said, "that thing is built like a tank". It drives like a tank too. Fortunately it stops better than it accelerates.
