1996 Renault Clio RT review from UK and Ireland
"Great town car, but look for a good one"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing so far, just vandalism. Passenger door lock has had to be glued back into place (looks slightly off, but still works; much cheaper than replacement at £150 with a different key)
General comments?
Brilliant little car around town, if you can find one that has been well maintained. The model does suffer from reliability issues, but if you are looking for a 90s model, those left are now either obviously on their last legs or look half-decent. Mostly owned by women (make of that what you will, but tend to have not been driven into the ground) so some weird colours and dodgy special editions out there. I've only given it a 6 for performance, based on the fact it screams above 70mph or 4000 revs, so is useless on motorways. It would benefit from a sixth gear really, all the gears are too low. I'm usually in 4th as soon as I hit 30mph. Overall, a neat, comfortable and nippy town/medium distance car.
