1991 Ford Fiesta SX review from UK and Ireland
"Reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
- Front suspension arms needed replacing every 2 years (for MOT)
- Main crankshaft oil leak fixed at 50k (new clutch inserted at the same time)
- Tick-over went a bit crazy towards the end.
- Rusted around petrol cap which needed patching every year to keep it looking nice
General comments?
Owned this car for 100k miles, and really nothing went wrong with it.
Front suspension arms every 2 years was a pain, but I think garages used that to get £100 per side out of you.
Acceleration was poor, but consumption was not.
Was fairly comfortable - did several 300 mile+ journeys in it with no problems.
Had it Ford dealer serviced once - worst service it ever had! Got Haynes manual after that, and did it myself.
