2000 Chevrolet Camaro review from North America
"This is a cool looking, fast car that is awful to live with"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The check engine light is always on. After multiple trips to have car assessed we began to ignore it.
The roof has always leaked.
The battery has been replaced twice, most recently with alternator and starter and a bunch of other electrical stuff.
The fuel pump has also gone bad this week: it is apparently located within the fuel tank and will require at least 6 hours of labor to replace.
The passenger cup holder broke after we owned the car a week.
Several of the lights in the dash are out, and the left turn signal has gone out twice.
General comments?
This is a cool looking car. I get lots of compliments on it.
I hate it. The doors are too long: in tight spaces they do not open enough to allow my husband to get in (and he is not obese.) They are too heavy and close on our legs as we get in and out.
The seat adjuster is located in front of the driver's seat: just where I have to step when I get in the car--I am always knocking my seat out of place.
There is minimal shading in the sunroof: I have to wear a hat to keep the sun out of my eyes when I drive in the summer.
It has broken down while my teen-aged daughter was driving three times now.
It drives like a boat: it is terrible in rain and snow, it fish-tails way too easily.
It has excellent acceleration which is great for getting on the freeways.
