1986 Ford Meteor GL review from Australia and New Zealand
"I highly recommend this car and was devestated when it finally died"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Head gasket blew at 406,000kms.
Stalled occasionally when not warmed up enough.
CV joints died at around 400,000kms.
Oil leaks occasionaly.
Lights in automatic tranmission didn't always work when headlight were turned on.
General comments?
This is a brillant 1st car, I ran it to the ground, I was as sad as the previous owner to lose this car.
Even people who worked with cars loved this car, it was very reliable and consistent.
It has a lovely turning circle, heavy steering, but still easy to use.
I had a wagon and it had lots of space.
Highway driving was a breeze and had a lot of grunt for a little car.
Fuel consumption was great and very economical.
