2001 Ford Mondeo Zetec review from UK and Ireland
"I would never consider buying another Mondeo"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The fuel pump has being replaced twice,
this part is quite expensive.
The boot lock has been replaced at least 5 times.
The handbrake caples rattle & the solution according to my main Ford dealer is to fit tree ties to secure the caples. This must be done often.
The security key which opens the wheel nuts wears & eventually you will be unable to remove the wheels & will require a new key which will also wear. The VW system is superior by far.
General comments?
The car is extremely comfortable, the cabin is well laid out & the Zetec model is well equiped with ABS, EBD, AC, EW front & rear, EM, Remote Access, Heated Windscreen & Steering mounted radio/cd controls.
The driving position is excellent except when reversing when it is difficult to see because of the passenger side head rest in the rear.
The fuel economy is very disappointing.
